Where midsize sits
The midsize SUV is the point where rear-seat passengers stop being an afterthought. A compact SUV carries five people; a midsize SUV carries five people comfortably, with luggage, on a long drive.
The measurement that defines the class is wheelbase, not overall length. Distance between the axles is what produces rear legroom, and it is also what settles the ride.
- Compact SUV: wheelbase around 2700–2750 mm
- Midsize SUV: wheelbase around 2800 mm and up
The BAIC All New X7 sits at 2800 mm.
The specification
- Length, width, height: 4745 / 1892 / 1715 mm
- Wheelbase: 2800 mm
- Ground clearance: over 200 mm
- Kerb weight: 1625 kg
- Fuel tank: 60 litres
- Five seats
Engine and transmission
- 1.5T engine, co-developed by BAIC and Meta
- 138 kW at 5500 rpm
- 305 Nm from 1500 to 4250 rpm
- 7-speed dual clutch (DCT380)
- 92 octane, Euro VI
- Front-wheel drive
Same engine as the X55, in a larger and slightly heavier body. The broad torque plateau is what makes it work — peak torque from 1500 rpm means the X7 does not need to downshift to keep up with traffic.
Ground clearance
Over 200 mm is notable for a road-going SUV. It is more than the X55 at 160 mm and more than most midsize competitors. In practical Bahrain terms, it means aggressive speed bumps, unfinished access roads and raised kerbs at building entrances are non-events.

Exclusive and Flagship add an electric passenger seat with a powered leg rest, pneumatic lumbar support for both front seats, and heating, ventilation and massage. Choosing a trim
Luxury — the value entry. Nappa leather, panoramic sunroof, 12.3-inch display, six-way electric driver's seat, cruise control, six speakers, 18-inch wheels.
Exclusive — the sensible middle. Adds the full driver assistance package, heated, ventilated and massaging front seats, powered tailgate, wireless charging, 19-inch wheels.
Flagship — adds the 360-degree camera, blind spot detection, automatic parking, front parking sensors and the convenience features.
For most buyers, Exclusive is the trim that makes sense. It brings the safety systems that matter most without the full Flagship outlay.

Sit in the back before you drive it. Midsize is about the second row. Book a test drive or request the brochure.
